Acer teases gamers with its 10-core Predator 6 gaming smartphone

There was another surprising new addition to Acer's Predator gaming line-up of products shown off briefly at IFA today, in the shape of the Acer Predator 6 gaming smartphone.

It sounds like an impressively powerful device, sporting a deca-core MediaTek processor and 4GB of RAM. The screen is HD with a 720p resolution and 6 inches in size. As such, it's bigger than your average smartphone, but still manageable for gameplay.

"This will dominate any games you throw at it," an Acer executive said during the press conference.

We also learned it has four speakers and built-in haptic feedback for a more immersive gaming experience. Apparently, it will mimic the feel of a controller in your hands. And there's a 21-megapixel camera on the device. It runs Android, so presumably you'll be able to play any game that's available in the Google Play Store.

In terms of looks, the Predator 6 gaming smartphone looks as futuristic and cool as the rest of Acer's gaming lineup. It's got a metallic back with sharp angles and red accents. The phone looks to be more or less a smaller version of the Predator 8 gaming tablet Acer revealed at the press conference.

The phone is not due for release until next year, so there's no word on pricing yet. Acer told CNet that the device will probably arrive in Asia first, but could see a wider release.

We'll keep you updated here on news about the epic gaming smartphone, as we learn more.
