Asus Zenfone 3 price, release date, specs and rumors

The Zenfone 2 was introduced at US$199 for the 2 GB of RAM version and US$299 for the 4 GB RAM version. Asus tends to pitch its smartphones at emerging markets, so expect similarly low prices for the Zenfone 3.  

Asus Zenfone 3 release date

Though Asus Chairman Jonney Shih confirmed the ZenFone 3 in an interview with Trusted Reviews, the release date is unknown. The Asus Zenfone 2 landed in May of 2015,  but it's difficult to judge the Asus release cycles because of the number of variants of each device it launches.

Mr Shih has also revealed that the company intends to release 7 Zenfones by August 2016. The Zenfone 3 will likely land before the end of the second quarter.

Mr Shih has said that the Asus Zenfone 3 will make use of a USB Type-C connector but hasn't confirmed any other details about the upcoming handset. The Zenfone 3 is unlikely to house world-beating specs, like a QHD display or Snapdragon 820 processor, instead it will likely house "mid-range" specs at a budget price.
