Huawei P10: Release date, leaks, pictures and rumours about the premium Chinese smartphone

Now a legitimate contender alongside the likes of Apple and Samsung, Chinese company Huawei is busy preparing its biggest smartphone launch to date.

The Huawei P10 will be launched next week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Which, to be honest, seems like a bit of a formality at this point .

There have been a huge number of leaks and spoilers that have all but revealed the phone entirely.

Last year's Huawei P9 introduced dual camera lenses crafted by Leica as well as a sleek metal design. Appropriately enough, it got extremely well reviewed and expectations are sky high for a follow up.

Here's everything we know so far about the Huawei P10.

Latest news

Huawei appears to have done most of the hard work for us and taken any guesswork out of the P10's launch date.

The Chinese company posted a brief YouTube video with the self-explanatory title: #HuaweiP10 is coming!

The video includes a date: February 26, 2017. And you can see it for yourself here:

Release date

The unveiling may be taking place at Mobile World Congress , but there's no telling when Huawei will actually get the device into our hands.

Last year's P9 launched in April and the P8 the year before that was also released in April. So there's no reason to think Huawei won't follow the same pattern for 2017.

Price

Again, details are sketchy here but the price is likely to reflect Huawei's ascension to the A-list of smartphone manufacturers.

It's unlikely to be any cheaper than the £449 launch price of the Huawei P9 last year. In fact, if we were betting types, we'd put the launch price at nearer £500.

You can probably count the UK's post-Brexit economical gymnastics as a factor in the price hike as well.

Design Read More

Huawei hit a bit of a home run with regards to the design of the P9. Chamfered edges, minimal bezels and a good-looking screen were the icing on a dual lens camera and zippy software.

A few leaked images (above) have surfaced that supposedly show the P10 - and it doesn't look like has changed.

They show that the P10 will have a curved-edge display, similar to that found on the Galaxy S7 edge. The pictures, obtained by Tech2 , also show the famous Leica dual-lens camera that debuted with the P9 last year.

As with most other smartphones, the P10 appears to be coming in two different sizes. There will be a larger (and probably more expensive) P10 Plus launched at the same time.

Intriguingly, the fingerprint scanner appears to have been moved from the rear of the phone to the front - similar to an iPhone 7.

Specs Read More

For the number-crunchers out there, rumours suggest the Huawei P10 will feature a 5.5-inch screen and 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB configurations with a 3,100mAh battery.

The P10 Plus is expected to boast 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB options with a 3,650mAh battery.

The phone(s) will arrive with Google Android Nougat but it will be heavily skinned with Huawei's own Emotion User Interface.
