Miitomo is Nintendo's first venture into the smartphone app world and they are hoping that the United States launch will be as successful as its Japan launch. During its first three days after launching in Japan two weeks ago, more than 1 million users have downloaded Miitomo, Nintendo's first free-to-start social mobile app focused on building communication with friends using their Mii characters.
Through your Mii and the Mii of your friends, Miitomo will prompt questions, spark conversations, and offer opportunities to learn and share new things.
Further encouraging the hype that is already surrounding the game's US release, Nintendo also announced that interested players who wish to pre-register before March 31 will be receiving special in-game treats from the gaming giant.
There are also other in-app features, like a shop where you can buy more outfits and accessories, and a game where you can win exclusive prizes. It also reached the first spot for free apps on the App Store and Google Play.
My Nintendo is a new comprehensive service that rewards users for interacting with Nintendo products and services in different ways. Though free to download, it does arrive with some in-app purchases, most of which pertain to decorating and accessorizing the Mii avatar. Previously the company promised a March release outside of Japan but with the month nearly over fans were wondering if the app would be pushed. The app supports Android and iOS, and we'll be giving it a test-drive when it finally launches...

You now have 48 hours to preregister for the app with your new Nintendo Account. Releasing Nintendo property games on non-Nintendo platforms is a relatively unusual move for the company, and marks a shift in market strategy.
Once downloaded, users can create their very own Mii avatar that they can customize from scratch or use the camera on their mobile devices to create a Mii based on the photo they take.
