Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Release Date Delayed Until 2017: Here's Why

The Surface Phone has been a device which has quite a challenge ahead of it - the phone is expected to carry the weight of many expectations, as Microsoft has been anticipated to release the Surface Phone as their final ray of hope in the smartphone markets, where they have not been able to perform as well as they expected.

In February, Microsoft's head of Surface hardware assured owners it had fixed the devices' power-management issues. However, since these processors are only due to be ready at the end of the year, it is likely that the Surface Book 2 will only be releasing next year, after they arrive.

Furthermore, there also is a possibility that Microsoft plans to make a joint release of its hybrid 2-in-1 with the Windows 10 Redstone operating system. Instead, it is expected to be released sometime in 2017 because Intel will not yet release its next generation of processing chips anytime soon.

Those eager to use the Microsoft Surface Book 2, however, will most likely have to wait before getting their hands on this new laptop, which is believed to be part of new wave of devices to be launched early next year together with Windows 10's next major update.

One reason for the delay from Microsoft is the fact that the company is still waiting for Intel to release its latest Kaby Lake processor. The laptop is rumored to come equipped with up to 1TB internal storage, which is bigger compared to its predecessor's 512GB storage capacity.

In addition, the upcoming Microsoft Surface Book 2 is rumored to run on Core i7 and sport an improved Surface Pen.

We would advise our readers to take the information with a big grain of salt as nothing yet has been officially announced by Microsoft. We're not aware of any issues for the time being, but we'll be keeping an eye out on reports and will let you know should bugs be discovered.
