On one corner, we have a new-comer Essential PH-1; while on the other we have Motorola Moto Z2 Force. Let's check out these two flagships and see which is superior.

It is one thing to be great at developing software, but it's a different kind altogether when it comes to developing smartphones. That's exactly the position of Andy Rubin, the founder of Android operating system, as they introduce the PH-1 flagship. This is their maiden voyage, let's check out the the PH-1 specs below :

  • We admire the PH-1 with its large 5.71-inch Quad HD LTPS IPS screen with an edgeless display. Wrapped up in a beautiful titanium and ceramic body, it further enhances the look and feel of this flagship. Then there's the usual fingerprint sensor and Gorilla Glass 5 as a means of protection against any mishaps that might occur.

In terms of performance, you can only expect it to be a speed demon with the Snapdragon 835 chipset, a blazingly fast octa-core processor, great graphics and 4GB RAM. There's simply nothing that the PH-1 won't be able to run fast enough, with some left in the tank for more.

All work and no play will make it a little dull, isn't it? Well, that's where the dual 13MP primary camera will come into the picture. The number of features and functions that goes into the PH-1 is simply amazing. To top it all off, the 8MP selfie camera is there to cater for all your selfies.

Storage-wise, there should be more than enough with the 128GB of internal storage found on the PH-1. And that's about all you can get on it, as there's no expansion slot. You may have to turn to cloud storage and UBS-on-the-go to add more space to it.

Powered by the latest Android Nougat 7.1 operating system is natural, and it helps to unlock further its exceptional power.

Regarding power, there's only the 3040 mAh battery supplying the necessary juice to the PH-1. It should be just enough to last for a full day in between charging,

An advantage of the PH-1, is on its modularity. Just think as it like a Snap-on accessory that can extend the functionality of the smartphone, something like Motorola has been doing with its Moto Mods. One of it is a 360° camera which has been the latest craze worldwide. Show everyone your surroundings with this add-on that can be easily fixed to the smartphone.

Let's now turn our attention to the Moto Z2 Force. You may find there are quite a number of similarities with PH-1.:

  • 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1440 x 2560 pixels or ~535 ppi pixel density
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Gorilla Glass protection
  • Shatter-proof display
  • Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset, Octa-core (4x2.35 GHz Kryo & 4x1.9 GHz Kryo) processor, Adreno 540 graphics and 4GB RAM
  • Dual 12MP primary camera with laser & phase detection autofocus, OIS and dual-LED (dual tone) flash

  • Non-removable Li-Ion 2730 mAh battery with Fast battery charging
  • Android Nougat 7.1.1
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • Moto Mods

  • $750 USD price tag
  • Having just released, Moto Z2 Force is a solid smartphone that is built to withstand any force. Blessed with the 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED screen, its look and feel are further enhanced by the beautiful metal body. As usual, there's the fingerprint sensor and Gorilla Glass for protection. But wait, there's something extra in the form of shatter-proof display – which is why the name Force was appended.

Surprisingly, the Moto Z2 Force is sporting a similar hardware with the Snapdragon 835 chipset, fast octa-core Kryo processor, great Adreno 540 graphics and 4GB RAM. This should put it on par concerning performance.

Same goes for Moto Z2 Force's camera, as it sports a dual 12MP primary camera which seems to have more features. It has the advantage of Optical Image Stabilization and dual-LED (dual tone) flash to its name. For those who love taking selfies, now you can even take it in the dark and all will look fine thanks to the dual-LED (dual tone) flash fitted on it.

As for storage, the Moto Z2 Force might have just half the amount which is 64GB but makes it up with the availability of an expansion slot. Should you need more space, and surely you would need it – just pop in a microSD card up to a maximum of 256GB.

Just a note of caution though of its 2730 mAh battery. If you are a particularly heavy user, just bring along a powerbank just in case.

Last but not least, the latest Android Nougat 7.1.1 operating system is available with its release. The latest software and best hardware combine well in this case.
