LG releases new version of mobile user interface

Ahead of the release of its G5 flagship smartphone, LG is showing off its latest user interface for its Android devices.

When the LG G5 was first revealed last month in Barcelona, to the surprise of many, it looked like the upcoming flagship smartphone was set to not feature a traditional app drawer.

LG UX 5.0 is based on the latest version of the Android operating system, Marshmallow, and provides a more user-centric experience, LG said. Additionally, LG is adding the LG Friends Manager app which allows for users to take advantage of the various Playground devices and modules that are available for the G5. It also lets users easily download and install the required applications from Google Play. You'll notice that LG points out specifically that the default home screen experience is one without an app drawer, but that an option with the standard app drawer is only a couple of settings away. With the LG 360 Cam module, they can also load the 360-degree photo at the sam e time. The Friends Camera Album in the Gallery enables users to categorise and manage images captured with LG Friends such as 360 CAM and Rolling Bot. LG UX 5.0 comes with enhanced support for LG G5's camera.

"LG UX 5.0 is here for a more playful and innovative mobile experience", says LG.

LG is also offering a trio of home options. The phone's attachable modular accessories include an LG 360 camera module that features two 180-degree cameras that can create 360-degree images, an audio Hi-Fi Plus attachment for improved sound capabilities for music and video audio, and an LG Cam Plus grip, which includes shutter and video camera buttons, a jog dial for video zoom and an embedded battery with another 1,100mAh of power for extended use. With Auto Shot, Multi-View, Pop-Out Picture and Film Effect.

LG Health: There are two modes - Advanced and novice mode to match to the user's profile. Start with novice and switch to Advanced once your activities reach a certain leve l, staying motivated along the way with visual details of your progress.

Diverse Security Method: In addition to LG's familiar Knock Code, accurate fingerprint recognition is now built into LG UX 5.0 to provide added convenience and security. With Always-on, all key information including the date, notifications and SMS icon are displayed on the screen at all times. These are four mainstays for the new camera features in the G5.
