Microsoft Surface Phone release update: Windows 10 powered device to release in 2017

Rumors are strong that Microsoft is developing a new Windows-powered smartphone, known as the Surface Phone. It is expected that the device would be launched sometime in 2017 as Microsoft has already clarified that mobile phones are not its priority this year.

Even after acquiring Lumia, Microsoft has failed to emerge as a major player in the mobile phone market. The Surface Phone is going to improve its standing when it releases. Panos Panay and his Surface team are reportedly developing the upcoming.

It is the same team which had worked on the Surface Tablet. The new device is likely to arrive in three versions, namely consumer, business and prosumer/enthusiast.

Pocket-Lint reported that Microsoft plans to launch the Surface Phone early in 2017. The device may feature high quality materials and specifications. The device may feature a premium metal build, similar to the Surface Tablet.

The phone may have a kickstand that lets it stand independently. The business version may also have a stylus. There may be three different displays for each version of the Surface Phone.

The basic version may sport 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal memory. The advanced version may have 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage space. The Pro version may have 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal memory.
