Samsung Galaxy X folding smartphone rumoured for release in 2017

According to Korean website ETNews, in a report published in April, Samsung is working on making the Galaxy X into a foldable phone that will offer a 5 inch mobile phone screen which can then be further unfolded into a 7 inch tablet device/display. The tech company is also preparing to launch the much awaited Galaxy Note 6 phablet, which will most likely happen in August. Samsung has yet to launch the Galaxy Note 6 but is expected to arrive in the coming months.

The phone is rumored to be featuring 5.8-inch QHD display with 2,560 x 1,440-pixel resolution and Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor. Like usual, Samsung will be updating the Galaxy S series, with the S8 and S8 Edge. Just in case you want to know if your device's update is ready, you can manually check via the phone's Settings About device Software update. This feature will allow users to fold the smartphone to easily put it inside the pocket. We've seen patents filed here and there and some leaked prototypes of what it might look like, but overall, Samsung has been pretty mum about its rumored foldable display smartphones.

Though the company released the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge earlier this year, it is claimed that they're looking to release the next iteration of the flagship device in 2017, along with a new Note 7/Note 7 Edge and the highly anticipated Galaxy X. In 2015, the South Korean company had introduced Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone with dual edge curved screen.
