Samsung to release results of Galaxy Note 7 probe January 23

LG will be looking to capitalize off Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 missteps. According to XDA Developers, the absence of the physical home button has further led to a conclusion that Samsung is serious in doing away with it for their next flagship.

The reinforced safety measures come on the heels of battery-related explosions of smartphones made by its rivals Samsung and Apple, and safety concerns among consumers. Apparently, Apple will be skipping the iPhone 7S and instead jump to the iPhone 8 as far as names are concerned.

The videos also extol the benefits of Samsung's AMOLED display technology, and we'll undoubtedly be hearing much more about this when the phone is officially launched.

Other new features on the iPhone 8 could include a redesigned body that features a stainless steel band sandwiched in between two sides of curved glass.

The new Galaxy S8 looks to feature a attractive edge-to-edge display that is sure to be the best display ever on a smartphone when Samsung releases its new handsets, with renders of the phone showing we have next to no bezel, and no physical buttons. As it is, this screen will no longer be an LCD panel, instead, Cupertino will finally make the long-awaited switch to OLED panels.

A new report out of the Korea Herald, citing several sources, say the next iPhone - iPhone 8, 10th-anniversary iPhone, or whatever courageous name Apple decides to call it - will feature a water and dust resistance rating of IP68, which is the highest level of weather resistance for a mobile device. That was nice and all, but Apple is ready to improve on that figure already.
