Nokia kicked off its MWC 2017 press conference talking about its Ozo camera and its acquisition of Withings, particularly with regards to what this means for the company's portfolio, with smartwatches, fitness trackers and smart scales to begin carrying the Nokia name this summer. Which is great, but, we really just care about the phones. So on to the good stuff...

What did Nokia announce at MWC 2017?

Earlier this year Nokia announced its Nokia 150 feature phone and China-only Nokia 6 smartphone, with the latter selling out in just 23 seconds. But Nokia wants to become the biggest smartphone player in the market worldwide. It is looking to the next chapter, and during its 26 February MWC 2017 event Nokia and partner HMD Global announced three new Android phones.

Nokia Android phones are said to be different to rival Android phones in three main ways: through Nokia's relentless focus on the everyday experience, whether that is seen in the display or the camera; through its premium design and build quality that is present no matter where in the line-up a model sits; and through its use of the purest version of Android you have seen, with monthly security updates, fast Android platform updates and the implementation of the Google Assistant across the range.

Nokia 6

The first phone announced by Nokia is one with which we're already familiar, the previously China-only Nokia 6, which will now be going global at 229 Euros. There will also be a Nokia 6 Arte Special Edition, which has a piano black gloss finish and more memory, and will retail at 299 Euros. It will be available globally in Q2 2017.

The Nokia 6 is a unibody Android Nougat phone crafted from a single block of Series 6000 aluminium. This is paired with a 5.5in full-HD laminated in-cell display with protective 2.5D Gorilla Glass.

Inside HMD has fitted the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor, along with the Adreno 505 GPU, 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 64GB of storage and a 3,000mAh battery.

The company draws particular attention to the Nokia 6's multimedia functionality, quoting dual amplifiers that deliver a 6dB louder sound than a regular amp, giving higher voice, deeper bass and unmatched clarity, and Dolby Atmos that creates powerful, moving audio that seems to flow all around users.

There's also a 16Mp, f/2.0 primary camera with phase-detection autofocus, and an 8Mp selfie camera.

Nokia 5

Second, there is the Nokia 5, a more compact version of the Nokia 6 but with a 5.2in HD IPS display, retailing at 189 Euros. It will be available globally in Q2 2017.

There's a 13Mp camera with autofocus and a dual-tone flash at the rear and an 8Mp wide-angle selfie camera at the front. Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage (plus microSD support up to 128GB). It supports both 4G connectivity and NFC, and has a Micro-USB port and 3.5mm headphone jack. The battery is rated at 3000mAh.

The Nokia 5 comes in Tempered Blue, Silver, Matte Black and Copper, and measures 149.7x72.5x8.05mm.

Third, there is the cheaper Nokia 3, which has the same flagship design but retails at 139 Euros. It is also crafted from a single block of 6000-series aluminium, and has a 5in HD IPS laminated display that is bright and clear, and a wide-angle 8Mp selfie camera. It will be available globally in Q2 2017.

The Nokia 3 comes in Silver White, Matte Black, Tempered Blue and Copper White, and measures 143.4x71.4x8.48mm. It runs a 1.3GHz MediaTek MTK6737 quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, plus there's MicroSD support up to 128GB.

Cameras are rated at 8Mp, both front and back, and there's an integrated 2650mAh battery keeping it all going. There's a Micro-USB port and headphone jack, plus support for 4G and NFC.

The one all Nokia fans have been waiting for, though, is the rumoured comeback of the Nokia 3310. It now offers 22 hours of talk time - 10 times more than the original - or one month on standby. It comes in gloss Warm Red and Yellow, and a matte Dark Blue and Grey, and measures 115.6x51x12.8mm.

The Nokia 3310 also comes with the Snake game and Nokia ringtone, what more do you need to know?!

Seriously though, expect 16MB of storage (yes that is MB and not a typo, but with up to 32GB via microSD), a 2.4in curved colour display and a new 2Mp camera.

But isn't Nokia dead?

Once the biggest and best-known mobile phone manufacturer, following some tough competition from iPhone and Android Nokia in 2011 made the fatal mistake of agreeing to produce only Windows phones. In 2014 it packed up its mobile phone game and sold its business to Microsoft. Fast-forward to 2017, and with Android onboard, this could be the Nokia comeback we've been waiting for.

It's still not quite Nokia as we know it, since Finnish brand HMD Global currently owns the rights to develop, build and sell Nokia-branded phones - although it does so with Nokia's input.

New Nokia Android phones UK release date rumours: When are the new Nokia Android phones coming out?

Nokia has confirmed that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 will be available globally in Q2 2017. As soon as an exact release date is known we will update this article.

The rumoured Nokia flagship will arrive later in the year. (Since it is said to be running the Snapdragon 835 processor, it cannot launch before the Samsung Galaxy S8 which is expected to go on sale 21 April.)

New Nokia Android phones UK price: How much are the new Nokia Android phones?

Nokia has not yet announced UK pricing for its Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, but it has announced the prices in Euros.

The Nokia 6 is the most expensive of these three affordable phones, costing 229 Euros (£194), while a limited edition Nokia 6 R Special Edition will cost 299 Euros (£253).

The Nokia 5 will cost 189 Euros (£160), and the Nokia 3 139 Euros (£117).

The new Nokia 3310 will cost €49 (£41). You can pre-order the Nokia 3310 from MobileFun today at £50.

Nokia P1 rumours

The Nokia P1 is what's expected to be the upcoming Nokia flagship, which will run the Snapdragon 835 processor and launch after MWC 2017.

A flagship phone referred to as the Nokia P1 was originally thought to arrive at MWC 2017 with the top-end Snapdragon 835 processor. We now know this isn't possible, since the Galaxy S8 has the exclusive on this chip and isn't being unveiled until the end of March. So, if a flagship Nokia is announced at MWC 2017 it will be running the Snapdragon 821, not the 835. It is still possible a Snapdragon 835 Nokia will launch later in the year, of course.

The Nokia P1 popped up on Weibo as the subject of discussion by what appeared to be Nokia China. It said the phone would arrive at MWC 2017 with the Snapdragon 835 processor. Unfortunately, HMD has since confirmed that this was a fake account.

Despite the fake account, it is believed that the Nokia P1 is very much in the making and coming soon as Nokia's top-end Android phone. It's said to run Android Nougat and come with a 5.3in display with Gorilla Glass 5 and IP57 protection. As well as the aforementioned Snapdragon 835, the Nokia P1 is expected to get 6GB of RAM. A Carl Zeiss 22.6Mp camera could be found at the rear, and a 3,500mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 inside.

The Nokia P1 is thought to be priced at around $800 or £634 with 128GB of storage, and $950 or £753 with 256GB.

Concept Creator has released a new YouTube video (shown below) revealing what the Nokia P1 might look like based on leaks. It reveals a metal frame, hybrid dual-SIM slot, Carl Zeiss camera, a front home button with embedded fingerprint scanner and a 5.3in display.

We've captured some stills from the video below.

Nokia 8 rumours

Following CES 2017 Total Tech posted a video on YouTube that it said revealed the Nokia 8 or 'Nokia Supreme'. Total Tech claimed Qualcomm was showing the smartphone at its booth at CES, and captured the below footage.

However, this is most definitely not the Nokia 8. Qualcomm denies showing the Nokia 8 at CES 2017. "We do not disclose details of our reference design. We've seen a few stories rumouring what we demonstrated in our CES booth to be a Nokia device. Those reports are not accurate, our 835 demos were on our own reference design devices, which we use to demo our latest Snapdragon SOCs every year," said a Qualcomm spokesperson.

Rumoured specifications for the Nokia 8 include a 5.7in Quad-HD SuperAMOLED screen, 12- and 24Mp cameras, a powerful Snapdragon processor and lots of storage.

Concept Creator offers the following speculative video:

For all we know the Nokia P1 and Nokia 8 could be the same phone. Come back soon for more details as we hear them.
