  • Starting with the exterior, U Ultra introduces a new, beautifully contoured, liquid surface that is designed to reflect the best form in you. Hold it up and you will appreciate the phone's symmetrical construction and the way it transforms light as you turn it around. To achieve this extraordinary look, HTC developed an entirely new process where colours bond to the glass in multiple layers to reflect light beautifully - adding brilliance and depth from every angle. The glass is then moulded evenly around the sides and edges, using extreme pressure and heat to mimic the natural surface tension of liquid; folding and bending the surface to create a perfect blend of metal and glass.

Sporting a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super LCD5 screen, U Ultra will bring you a great visual experience. Not only that, it also introduces a second screen which gives you the information you need, at your fingertips. The big screen is extremely great for your daily activities, while the new second screen is perfect for fast, convenient access to the things you use the most - like your top contacts, app shortcuts, event notifications and more. You won't miss out on all the important things in life anymore with this smartphone.

Under the hood of the U Ultra is guaranteed to make your experience things in the fast last by blazing through just about anything that you throw at it. Here we can find the Snapdragon 821 chipset, a fast quad-core Kryo chipset, great graphics and 4GB RAM.

Camera-wise, the U Ultra will be sporting a great camera setup which builds on HTC 10 which was awarded an industry leading DxOMark score of 88; and further improved. You will then be able to capture great photos with less blur, super-fast laser focus and new Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) to catch every moment. You also get bigger pixels for better photos at night, because good things can happen in the dark.

A good amount of internal storage is available with 64GB on-board. Even then, you can easily expand it up to a maximum of 256GB via its microSD slot – so you know that storage won't be a problem.

What could potentially be a problem is with its rather limited 3000 mAh battery that can be found on the U Ultra. If you are a very heavy user, it is best to bring along a power bank just in case.

Last but not least, a good news is in store for the U Ultra with the latest Android Nougat 7.0 OS accompanying its release. This could only bring about the latest features and functions, right out of the box which you can immediately tap into.

Now let's take a look at its rival – the P10 Plus. With the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona underway, it is definitely one of the hottest news to come out from the event.

Finishes also available in high gloss and sandblast.

With a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen on the P10 Plus, you can be sure of its amazing image quality. It is just slightly smaller, but every second you spend looking at its screen' the more you will fall in love with it.

In terms of performance, the two are almost on par. Under the hood of the P10 Plus is the high-end Kirin 960 chipset, blazingly fast octa-core processor, great graphics and 4GB RAM. Nothing that would slow it down.

The best part about the P10 Plus will definitely be on its camera side of things. You can now put a portrait studio in your pocket with its great camera ability. The new Leica Dual Camera 2.0 uses precise 3D facial detection, dynamic illumination, and natural portrait enhancements to produce stunning artistic portrait shots in Leica image style. The dual 20MP + 12MP primary camera presents you with 4K shooting, Optical Image Stabilisation and Superior low-light photography. When you see the world more clearly, you get to appreciate how beautiful it is.

An all new 8MP Leica selfie camera captures 2x more light, offering amazing self-portraits, whether day or night. HUAWEI P10 even senses groufies and automatically switches to wide-angle shots when more people enter the picture. Capture unique selfies in Leica image style.

Battery-wise, the P10 Plus will be powered by a 3750 mAh battery which should be more than capable of holding its own for at least a day or two in between charging.

Finally, the latest Android Nougat 7.0 will be available right out of the box. This means you will get the best software combining with the best hardware available out there.

    Conclusion:

HTC U Ultra is going to present a big challenge in the flagship space. Great 5.7-inch size with great display, great hardware, great camera and great storage is in store for you with this smartphone. Although a rather small battery could limit you slightly though.

HTC U Play is already available for pre-order for $749 USD and is said to be released in March 2017. You can choose from Brilliant Black, Cosmetic Pink, Ice White and Sapphire Blue colors.

Elsewhere with Huawei P10 Plus, it is going to be a definitive camera smartphone in 2017. If photography is your passion, and you want the convenience of a smartphone but loaded with professional camera capabilities – then by all means this is it. Packed with features and functions, you won't need a digital camera or even a DSLR.

Huawei P10 Plus had just been launched and will be available very soon for $699 Euro or ~$739 USD. It will be available in Ceramic White, Dazzling Blue, Dazzling Gold, Graphite Black, Mystic Silver, Rose Gold and Greenery.
