Google Nexus 2016 Release Date in Q3 2016 with Android 7.0 Nougat

It seems that Alphabet Inc. is preparing to release two Nexus handsets (codenamed Sailfish and Marlin) next month and their features and specs have already surfaced all over the internet.

There are also reports which say that the big search engine company is planning to release, alongside the flagship smartphones, two new Nexus branded smartwatches. However, Android Police has already showcased an image of the upcoming Nexus handsets from HTC and in concordance with it, the new Nexus smartphones will come with a two-tone black on black finish.

In addition, the Nexus logo that has been found on the previous Nexus handsets has been replaced with a simple "G" letter. However, there are reports which say that the "G" logo will be changed once the final version of the device will be released. Als, these two handsets are expected to come with an all-metal look and a glass finish on top of the rear casing.

When it comes to Android 7.0, the operating system that the Google Nexus 2016 will run on, it seems that it will come with support for Google's latest VR platform. This VR platform is named Daydream and it will function ONLY on the new Nexus devices that Google will release this year. It seems that, by doing this, the big search engine company is trying to capture more of the virtual reality market.

The Google Nexus 2016 devices are expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, which, according to reports, it will offer 10 percent faster performance compared to its predecessor. Google will most likely release its upcoming smartphones sometime later next month, when it will also set the launch of the Android 7.0. For now, users enrolled in the Android N beta program can install the fifth Developer Preview, which includes the Android emulator that helps them test their applications before being published using API level 24 to Google Play.
