Although the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 has been breaking sales records left and right, (sold 800,000 units in 12 hours, and 1.5 million in two weeks) it was not without its fair share of controversies.

Recently, there have been news that some consumers of the popular smartphone has been criticizing the smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi, of false advertising. The consumers stated that, apparently, the units shipped with components contrary to what was said to be advertised. The rattled consumers stated that Xiaomi advertised the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 to come with a Sharp/AUO screen and Samsung's 13 MP camera, and unlike what was advertised, the phones shipped with locally made brands.
Another consumer complaint is that apparently, those that paid additional to get more insurance coverage (broken screens and liquid-caused malfunction) have stated that instead of the promised replacement, their units were eligible for maintenance.
In a released statement, Xiaomi claimed that they have never stated that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will come with the Sharp/AUO screen. They even stated that the claims might have been said by third-party online stores that were selling the handsets in China. Xiaomi also stated that there's also the possibility that competitors or unscrupulous individuals are the ones who consciously spread misinformation regarding their product.
As for the camera, they also did not claim that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will be equipped with a Samsung camera, and though the camera itself is not from Samsung, it is equipped with Samsung's 13 MP ISOCELL sensor.
As for the insurance issue, mostly because of the rising insurance fraud phenomenon, Xiaomi reserved the right to identify if the damage on the phone was caused deliberately. If Xiaomi had assessed that the damage was deliberately done, it will not qualify for a full replacement.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 boasts of a MediaTek Helio X10 (MTK6975) chipset, 5.5-inch display 1920 x 1080 IPS LCD display, 2 GB RAM, 16 or 32 GB internal storage. It also has a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front facing camera. Amongst its features are 4G LTE, dual SIM capability, with Android Lollipop installed.
